Leader: Kevin Balciar, (505) 293-1477, kevin@soleilwest.com
The 2008 project at Navajo Lake State Park is funded through the Recreational Trails
Program administered by New Mexico State Parks. The NMVFO will be developing trail
heads that we started in previous years by adding interpretive kiosks with bulletin boards
and benches at each trail. Those trails include Crusher Hole, Simon Point, Munoz, Texas
Hole, and the San Juan River Trail. We will install interpretative nature trail signs and trail
directional signs along each trail as well as picnic tables and resting benches. In addition to
this work, we will maintain trails that we constructed along the San Juan River in previous
years. There will be work for all skill levels.
The project sponsor is Builders Specialty Service, an architectural specialty distributor in
Santa Fe. As in years past, we will be staying at the Cottonwood Campground along the
San Juan River. Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast will be provided by the NMVFO.
Please contact Kevin Balciar, the project leader at 293-1477 or kevin@soleilwest.com for
further information. The deadline to sign up for this project is September 22.
